Stranger in the city
I am French, I don’t speak Czech, and I don’t know Prague.
Liben is the first area than I discovered not like a tourist or a student who are looking for a flat. I walked on the street, look at people, it was so different than in the Prague centre.
The most disappointing for me, it’s to couldn’t speak with people, to not understand. So, I have tried to take portrait of people in the street. It was a way to try to understand people without language, to capture a meeting.
Now everybody can take pictures, everywhere with camera, phone, laptop… In the selfie era, people are no more use to be taken in picture by someone they don’t know. Mostly in the street, on the supermarket way. So I think that it’s interesting to use this tradition of street photographer and portrait for improve the difference with our modern representation of ourselves and other.
